Larson Storm Away Screen Door

If  you are not familiar with Larson, they are sort of a big deal.  Number 1 storm door company in America, best way to insulate your entry doors, screen away!  These credentials do not come easily.

Larson has been around for a long time.  They have made a few missteps along their path but they really seem to be cooking with fire recently.

They offer the top aluminum storm door on the market in a bevy of stock colors, sizes, and styles.  And they keep upping the ante.

With dual closers; top and bottom, lowE available glass, and screen away; they are just crushing the competition.

I keep mentioning screen away.  That is another 'industry' code word, let me explain.

Let's take a moment to reflect on the storm door you probably have in your home, it is the door I have anyways.  It is a full screen door which I really like, it let's in plenty of light and air plus it really shows off my front door.

What I do not like about it is that come fall I have to go and pull out the glass insert for the door.  I pray that I did not break it with the lawn mower and that it is intact.  After I find it I spend 10 minutes figuring out the best way to carry it up to my door.  From there it is only another 30 - 40 minutes until my glass is in place and I have stashed the screen somewhere "safe", easy.

Well guess what, Larson made this an exercise of the past!

Enter, SCREEN AWAY.  The clever folks at Larson came up with this idea.  What if you did not have to always take in and out the glass?  What if the glass stayed with the door and discreetly hid??

Check this out, they hit the "easy" button for us and the glass sash now slips into the glass panel bellow.  Similar to a school bus window.  Look at the graphic bellow.

See Seee Seeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Where is the screen you ask when the window is up?  The screen ROLLS into the header of the door, it too disappears and if the screen tears you can replace just that part.  Awesome, just awesome!

Now there are a few drawbacks here, you never will have a full 'open' screen door, the most you will get is half screen.  You know what, I can live with that.  For the number of times animals or boots have torn the bottom of my screen I am happy for the compromise.
