Integrity windows keep operational costs down for renovated affordable housing unit in Vermont

Much has been made about the increase in new multifamily construction, but the outstanding demand for apartments also has generated many great renovation projects across the country.

Take the Housing Trust of Rutland County apartment complex in Brandon, Vt. Formerly the Brandon Training School Administration, the aging building was completely gutted and remodeled into a new affordable multifamily complex for Rutland County residents.

And while it may provide an affordable housing option for those in needs, no shortcuts were taken in insuring the Housing Trust would shine for years to come. Architect Lazarus Scangas (Arnold and Scangas Architects of Colchester, Vt.) and Naylor and Breens Builders, Inc. (Brandon, Vt.) focused on energy efficiency and minimal operation costs through the renovation, which is why they installed Integrity Wood-Ultrex Tripane Casements units from Windows & Doors by Brownell (Williston, Vt.) and AW Hastings (Enfield, Conn.). The windows offer an R-value of 5, so they can stand up to Vermont’s harsh winter season.
