On the shores of the Annisquam River, there lives small home that packs a mighty punch. The kitchen in this home used to be small, it still is, but now it’s design has a flow that makes it feel twice as big.
The trend toward smaller homes is undeniably taking hold. With less space, people are more and more turning to design to solve their space needs. And it’s working. Good design can help you make the most of your time and space. Even if your home isn’t tiny or even particularly small, you can still benefit from design.
Design can help your space feel bigger. This kitchen was formerly home to dark cabinets at the base and wall. Getting rid of the wall cabinets and replacing the dark wood with white helps brighten up the space. Paired with the light blue painted walls, this kitchen had developed a light and airy feel usually reserved for larger spaces.
This kitchen also makes good use of cabinet accessories to keeps things organized and out of sight. A pull out spice rack keeps olive oil and spices close at hand but out of sight. While a wide appliance garage helps keep other everyday items out of sight.
By placing the sink in the corner, this kitchen is able to make use of every inch. Creative solutions like this can be a massive space saver. When space is both a precious commodity and limited resource, it’s important to maximize what you have. With sweeping views of the river and well designed kitchen, this home is proof that size isn't everything.
