Tucked in the coastal town of Rockport, this kitchen was due for a transformation. What was once a narrow galley-style kitchen that was short on efficient storage has been reimagined into a warm, functional space that blends seamlessly with the character of the home. Working alongside Treehouse Design and Peter Willcox, our designer, Emma Littlefield redesigned the layout, expanding the footprint to maximize both style and efficiency.

Every detail in this kitchen was designed with purpose. Deep drawers in the bar area provide easy access to bottles and glassware, while a dedicated baking center keeps essential appliances neatly tucked away yet readily available. A large drawer near the toaster serves as a designated bread station, reducing countertop clutter.

To honor the home’s existing character, they chose a Shiloh inset style with a rich cherry finish, to blend with the surrounding wood furniture and architectural details. The cabinetry features a toe kick with a furniture-style finish, adding to the custom aesthetic.

In addition, another well-appointed design choice was the crown-molding. As the homeowners did not want to detract from the varying angles and heights of the ceiling, they opted for a more streamlined crown molding in areas for simplicity and a cleaner aesthetic.  For the hardware, they chose Top Knobs from the Aspen collection in aged bronze to complement the warm wood tones, creating a timeless look.

Perhaps our favorite feature in this kitchen is the custom drop-down island seating section. It creates an intimate breakfast nook without using up any additional space. The beautifully crafted wood countertop adds a touch of warmth, further blending the cherry cabinetry with the rest of the home. Complementing these surfaces are the LG quartz countertops from Gerrity Stone, offering durability and elegance in equal measure.

This renovation was all about blending form and function while staying true to the home’s character. The result is a kitchen that not only enhances daily living but also feels like it has always belonged. From the thoughtful storage solutions to the refined materials, this space now offers warmth, efficiency, and timeless beauty—perfectly suited to the Rockport home it resides in.
