Creating a new home is hard. There are so many decisions to make. It’s a marathon, not a sprint. And it’s incredibly rewarding. Whether you are moving into a new apartment, renovating your kitchen, or building a whole new home. It’s an opportunity, full of decisions and hard work. And at the end, you will have a space to share with the people you love.
This home in Goose Cove shares the story of many other homes. Built as part of a new community, the neighbors are also going through all the decisions. We worked with the homeowners on the cabinetry in this home. That meant the kitchen, bathrooms, and laundry room.
The goal was to create a space for everyone to be able to visit and gather. The kitchen is large, enough for multiple cooks. Since there isn’t an island to navigate around, traffic flows a little more freely. The large L-shaped peninsula provides ample storage and workspace. Seating on the other side of the bar creates space for friends and family to hang out while you work. The kitchen even shares an open space with the living and dining room, so you are never far from the party.
One of the coolest features in this kitchen is the retractable hood. The stove is located on the peninsula, with no wall to attach a venting hood too. We were able to use a retractable range hood to keep the area above clear and still provide proper ventilation.
With all the challenges involved in building a home, it’s a wonder when it all comes together. When all the endless tiny decisions, and the big ones, are made. And you are left with your new home. A place that has come to life and that you can now share with your family and friends.

They knew what they wanted, but it was a bit outside of a traditional design. They wanted black base cabinets, with white cabinetry on the walls. It was another leap.
